Here are all of the comments that we have had either by email or in our visitor's book which is on the sideboard as you come in. There are also some notes from 2011, 2010, and 2009 which we hope will prove that we have been welcoming people to Barcelona for some time now! If you do come and stay with us, please leave some feedback with suggestions in the book (or send them by email) so that we can keep on improving the apartment. And please pass on any of your favourite places in the city if you have time so that we can pass the information onto our other guests.
We are building up a Barcelona Guide on the site from all of the restaurants, parks and museums that our guests recommend (which has been great for us too, as we have discovered a few new places that we didn't know about so thanks for that!) Rachel & Gideon.

New Year 2011- Jan 5th 2012
This is a well located apartment with more than enough space for our family of 6 (ages from 23 yrs to 80 yrs) and it suited us all very well.
We spent New Years Eve at "La Polpa" which is very close. The food was good (not amazing) and the atmosphere was festive and fun- we had a lovely night culminating in grapes, cava and cheers!
We ate very well out (at the rec's from this visitors book plus a few others)- go out and joy finding your own eating experience- there's plenty to be had!
PS Magndia in the Gothic Quarter is amazing value for lunch.
Montserrat is good for fresh mountain air (train 1 hour from Plaza Espanya)
PS- we loved the original windows, doors and shutters. Well done with the restoration.

Greetings from Denmark. We had a pleasant week, everything was as expected or better!
We enjoyed the Moon Cafe for soccer matches and the nearby L Polpa was really a pleasant experience. Also thanks ALOT to Lynda for being so helpful with the logistics!

The apartment exceeded expectations. In fact, we found it much more spacious than your pictures suggested - time for you to drag out the wide angle lens! ;-)
And Lynda was so helpful! Give her our best regards.
I will recommend your flat to my travelling friends.
Please quote me if so desired.
best wishes

p.s. Dang! I forgot to unplug the router.

Our stay was short but enjoyable with much viewing of streetscapes and amazing buildings by Gaudi and others.
The flat was great & quite handy. Well equipped and cool with the shutters open. We will recommend it to our friends for the future.

What a fantastic city Barcelona is! Enjoyed every minute of it. One week has just given us a taste for more.
There were so many things to keep the kids occupied. We were particularly impressed with CosmoCaixa and the Aqaurium.
We found Barcelona incredibly easy to navigate with the straight forward transport system. It puts London to shame!
Mildly disappointed with Montjuic. It seemed very bleak and under used. Perhaps what London has to look forward to post 2012?
[Note from Rachel- head for the Castle and the cable cars for the most buzz. The Olympic Stadia at the top are pretty quiet].
We have found the apartment very comfortable indeed, with everything we could possibly need and perfectly situated for all the sights, restaurants, shops etc.
Despite warnings of pick pockets etc, I have felt totally at ease around Barcelona and found everyone friendly and welcoming.
Thankyou for a lovely stay
The G's
P.S.
We ate a lovely meal at l'Olive 47 C/ Balmes (more expensive tahn tapas buut worth it).

Had a wonderful stay thankyou- the appt is great & even the dog above (on garden roof) is really welcoming!
[Note from Rachel. This is our cute Neighbour- Theo! He is a really shy (+ quiet!) Beagle who sometime sticks his head through the plant pots above on the terraza which you can see from the garden. Just say "hola" and he will cock his head at you, and sneak off again].
The wine was a lovely touch, thankyou.
Would echo the comments about Hansel but Le Fornet is also good. The bar up the road (Balmes/Rossello) is really nice at the end of the day & the Charcuterie opposite is fab- really freindly and lovely food, beer & wine.
Avoid tapas on Rambla de Catalunya as it is really expensive & not that nice. Moon is good if you want to watch a football game (Balmes/Provenca) or the kids are craving hotdogs or burgers- they are very friendly and relaxed in there
The pharmacy just down the block is useful to know as they speak good English. Good jewellery shopping in Chenys C/Hospitas just off the Ramblas and there's a lovely little pottery/ceramics shop in the road/lane opposite the Palau de la Musica Catalana in Born.
Rufoo Fish Spa in Bari Gotic is great value (card in the drawer) and we loved exploring around here.
We have left a few vouchers but most of them run out in 2 days- enjoy!!

NB- the fan in middle bedroom doesn't work, but air con is so effective it doesn't matter.
[Note from Rachel- thks- we'll get that replaced]

Dear Rachel
Thanks for sharing the cool grandeur of your apt. with us. Especially loved the tiles and the magnificent doors. Barcelona was nice too haha.

Tip- to avoid the queues (hope I spelt that correctly) at Sagrada Familia (and other spectacles) you can buy tickets at www.servicaixa.com - all you need is a credit card, smartphone, iPad or laptop. You can collect your tickets at any ServiCaixa Machine (Balmes, Rambla de Catalunya).
Mind you, there are 2 kinds of machines at ServiCaixa- the ones that issue tickets to Spectacles and the ones that do not. Just take the right machine!)
[Note from Gideon- this is a good tip. ServiCaixa is the brand for the ATM's, Hole in the Walls from La Caixa bank. Yellow branding. Use the bigger machines. There's a branch on Balmes Mallorca. Out of the flat, turn left, 1st junction]

Have had a great few days in Barcelona. This was our 4th visit, but the first with 3 children (aged 4,5,and 2). Flat lovely, toys great bonus for the children (& therefore us!)
The CosmoCaixa (Science Museum) is absolutely amazing- we spent a whole day here easily. Very impressive!
We also had a day at Barcelona Zoo which we all really enjoyed- lovely grounds & surprisingly large. Definitely recommended if you have younger children. (+ Parc Ciutadella for boats and turtle spotting!)
Also visited the chocolate mumeum & Museum of Inventions & Ideas- again, both great fun. Also Parc Guell (lovely but go later in the day- it was too crowded when we went mid-late morning though you can escape the crowds by climbing higher for the best views- + a small park at the top)
Montjuic also a favourite- cable car expensive but worth it. Castle, playparks, big slides, gardens are all in the hill. We'd do this as a picnic trip next time.
Underground fab for getting around- again all part of the fun. As was the bus, furnicular and Blue Tram!
Best chocolate croissants ever at Hansel & enjoyed Cerveseria Catalunya for a tapas. We are already planning what we'll do next time.

This is a perfect flat to enjoy time in Barcelona from! There were 5 of us together, 4 were going to a conference & meetings & myself just tagging along to see Barcelona. It was great that our 3 girls had their own rooms.
The Metro we had just got used to! Provenca (50 yards to the right of the main door) takes you to the top of Las Ramblas in 5 minutes but mainly we used the one that came back to Passeig de Gracia, as there were more stops in Central Barcelona including Barceloneta (the beach & restaurants!)
I loves the area & each day chose to walk down different streets so I could see more of the amazing buildings. I would never tire of looking at these but my husband tired of me saying "wait a minute! I need to take a photo"!
Restaurants
The tapas just right and right again out of the apartment..v.good! We went to many restaurants, but my favourite was "El Tunel del Port". The last restaurant was in a complex overlooking the sea. If I had known, I would have taken a swimsuit and towel. The sea looked wonderful.
There are many restaurants and they have good fixed menu prices but a long wals, as past the twin towers (+ 3 beaches).
Although we used the Metro, we also recommend taxis as very cheap!
I hope to come back and bring my sons! They will love Barcelona.
The flat is just perfect & thankyou Rachel.

Yeas- same from me. It was the final conference of our 3 year project and we still had a lot of work to do on our presentations. The flat was good for this- better than a hotel- it really worked as a base.
Also enjoyed the Picasso Museum. You need to buy a good street map early on I would say.

May 25-30 2011
The apartment was perfect- close to everything we wanted to do and yet quiet (except for the night of 28 May when Barcelona won a football game :) (soccer for us).
We also crammed many more things in the short days but we loved it all. The food in Barcelona is wonderful!
Tahnks again for a great place to stay, we hope to come back some day.
