Up on the slopes of Tibidabo, the hill that overlooks the city, is one of our favorite restaurants for a splash-out or special occasion. Officially, this is actually two restaurants: La Venta downstairs and El Mirador de la Venta (La Venta Lookout). You’ll see the reason for making a separate case for el Mirador when you get up there and see the incredible views of the city.
Head up the hill for a few aperitifs in Bar Mirablau overlooking the city and then walk over the square (Plaça Doctor Andreu). If you can get a table up at the top of the restaurant (best to book ahead). If you don’t manage this, there is plenty of space in the covered terrace downstairs or the Moorish-influenced interior.
The food is simple fresh ingredients, but done with Barcelona flair- so look out for the lentil and spider crab salad and langoustine ravioli, filled with leek and foie mousse. On your second course, you’ll be able to choose from a mouth watering selection including rack of lamb and monkfish in filo pastry.
Open Monday to Saturday including public holidays.
